A RESOLUTION


Recognizing Reverend Dr. Leonard Small; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Leonard Small was born in Savannah, Georgia, on September 3, 1950 and educated in the Chatham County school system where he attended Savannah High School, Armstrong College, and Jacksonville Theological Seminary where he received a Bachelor´s in Theology, a Master´s in Christian Education, and a Doctorate in Christian Physiology; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Small is a devoted, loving husband, father, and grandfather; and

WHEREAS, he is the founder and director of Resurrection House Ministries, a Christian based ministry assisting in the return of respect and love to countless numbers of drug addicts and their families; and

WHEREAS, as the chief executive officer of WTLD (The Lord´s Day) radio station out of Jesup, Georgia, Dr. Small ministers to souls through gospel music and the word of God daily; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Small is the pastor of the Litway Baptist Church in Thunderbolt, Georgia, celebrating his twenty-fourth pastoral anniversary on June 3, 2007; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure, Litway has financially helped churches in poverty stricken countries and has given aid to students locally as well as abroad; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Small is the recipient of the Washington Times "Foundation Service Award" and the National Humanitarian Award bestowed on him by the Consortium of Doctors, a national group of black women Ph.D.s; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Small is noted for his compassionate, nurturing, and caring nature and his tireless time and energy devoted to speaking out against injustice, continuing to be a voice for the silent and provide strength for the weak.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize the outstanding contributions to the community and the State of Georgia by Reverend Dr. Leonard Small.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Dr. Leonard Small.
