A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Bishop Paul S. Morton; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Bishop Paul S. Morton was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on July 30, 1950, and in 1972 he moved to New Orleans, where he was installed a pastor of Greater St. Stephen Missionary Baptist church in 1975; and

WHEREAS, under his direction, the ministry grew from 647 members to over 20,000 members, and St. Stephen now has three church locations and offers eight worship services per week; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Morton answered another call to begin Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, a movement to lead and teach the people of God, particularly Baptist people, how to operate in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, yet remain on the same foundation which is Jesus Christ; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of this great visionary, many thousands of people have been blessed, encouraged, inspired, and delivered through the establishment of five ministries, Life Center Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral, Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church, Greater North Shore Full Gospel Baptist Church, Household of Faith Full Gospel Baptist Church, and Higher Heights Full Gospel Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, the ministry purchased a defunct military installation and, under the name St. Stephen Manor, developed affordable houses for more than 75 families, as well as an apartment complex which houses over 50 families, and in 1997 the ministry purchased an office building which now houses its corporate headquarters; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his worldwide evangelistic ministry and pastorship of Greater St. Stephen, Bishop Morton continues to spread the word of God through the "Changing a Generation" daily radio and weekly television broadcasts which air in several markets nationwide; and

WHEREAS, he has authored several books, including his latest book, Why Kingdoms Fall, and his many books and publications have been a boon to people seeking the way; and

WHEREAS, it is only right and proper that this dynamic man of God be recognized and commended for the good he is doing in the world.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Bishop Paul S. Morton for his many contributions to mankind.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bishop Paul S. Morton.
