By: Senator Rogers of the 21st

A RESOLUTION

Commending Bill Ratliff; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Bill Ratliff has provided inspired vision and guidance to ministry and to the Towne Lake Community; and

WHEREAS, he grew up in a Presbyterian household and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in speech communication, becoming a Christian believer his senior year in college through his involvement in the Campus Crusade; and

WHEREAS, after graduation he went into sales, until one day while sitting in a car in 101 degree weather and praying with his pastor about the path his life was on, he made the decision to take his life in a different direction and enter Southern Seminary to obtain his master's in divinity; and

WHEREAS, while in seminary school, he dreamed his vision of creating a nondenominational church that would provide its members with spiritual guidance and fulfillment as well as a place to grow and develop their spiritual gifts; and

WHEREAS, in 1999, Bill Ratliff's vision became a reality when he started Towne Lake Community (TLC) Church; and

WHEREAS, today TLC is more than simply a place for people to gather and worship, it is a place for people to come together, flourish, and minister outside of the church and to be able to do the things they love to do; and

WHEREAS, through his leadership, TLC makes it easy for parishioners to minister in areas they have an interest in and in ways they either did not realize they could or were not previously given the opportunity to explore; and

WHEREAS, TLC started with ten members and now has more than 200 members which can be credited to Bill Ratliff going above and beyond his normal pastoral duties and making such a huge impact on the lives of all of those around him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending Bill Ratliff for his outstanding vision and his service to the ministry and to the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bill Ratliff.
