Senate Resolution 39

A RESOLUTION


Recognizing Mike Perry for his outstanding efforts in community outreach for Cherokee County; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, for 12 years in a row, Mike Perry has served as the chief organizer for the annual Tennis Fest at the Bridge Mill Tennis Club, a fundraising event that benefits the Cherokee County Boys and Girls Club; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Perry has a longstanding personal appreciation for the Boys and Girls Club, since he was a member as a young boy in Rhode Island; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Perry developed his current passion for tennis at the University of Rhode Island, decided to pursue the sport as a full-time career, and became certified as a USPTA teaching professional in 1984; and

WHEREAS, over the years, his Tennis Fest has raised approximately $40,000 for area schools and local charities; and

WHEREAS, Mike Perry is devotedly married to Pat, whom he met through tennis, and they have three children, Joy, John, and Mike, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Mike Perry is a tireless advocate for the children of Cherokee County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily commend Mr. Mike Perry for his patient and compassionate service to his community and to the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Mike Perry.
