RESOLUTION
Urging
Congress to adopt the "United States National Health Insurance Act (or the
Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act)," H.R. 676; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
United States Representative John Conyers, Jr., of Michigan is sponsoring the
"United States National Health Insurance Act (or the Expanded and Improved
Medicare for All Act)," H.R. 676, that would provide health insurance for all
Americans; and
WHEREAS,
under this Act, all United States residents would be eligible to receive a
Medicare for All card, allowing them access to all health care services at all
health care facilities across the country in the Medicare for All system;
and
WHEREAS,
this system would mean no premiums, deductibles, or copayments for patients, who
would never receive a bill for a medically necessary service; and
WHEREAS,
the Act provides for a National Health Insurance Board that would advise and
recommend program changes for the Department of Health and Human Services, and
Congress; and
WHEREAS,
the National Health Insurance Act creates publicly financed insurance for all
while maintaining our current privately run health care system; and
WHEREAS,
considering the low overhead costs of medicare and lower rate of spending
increases compared to private health insurance plans, the National Health
Insurance Act will help contain the nation´s health care expenditures;
and
WHEREAS,
by lowering costs for employers, this universal health insurance plan will make
the United States more competitive in keeping and attracting valuable jobs for
American workers; and
WHEREAS,
Medicare for All would ensure that every family and individual in America would
have full access to the affordable health care they deserve.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body urge
Congress to adopt the "United States National Health Insurance Act (or the
Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act)," H.R. 676.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Speaker of the United
States House of Representatives, the President of the United States Senate, and
to each member of the Georgia Congressional Delegation.
