Senate Resolution 209

A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Elizabeth Bates; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, approximately 300 students representing ten Georgia schools participated in the Third Annual Academic Competition at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia, on January 19, 2007; and

WHEREAS, scholarships of up to $3,000 were awarded to individual winners of competition sections for essay writing, mathematics, science, and social studies; and

WHEREAS, an outstanding team of students from Chattahoochee County High School gave a sensational performance at the competition, scoring several first and second place awards for individual competition as well as securing third place in the quiz bowl competition; and

WHEREAS, throughout their months of preparation and diligent study, this team of students cheered and supported each other and demonstrated a positive attitude towards participating in after-school meetings and completing practice material at home; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Bates participated in the competition for tenth grade science, and, in a spectacular display of concentration and mental prowess, claimed the title of second place; and

WHEREAS, these young scholars have earned the respect of their peers and have brought honor to their families, school, and community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate Elizabeth Bates on winning second place in tenth grade science.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Elizabeth Bates.
