RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Let Us Make Man event; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Let Us Make Man is a symposium dedicated to addressing the issues facing the
contemporary Black male and formulating strategies for greater cooperation
between members of the Black community in Atlanta and in the State of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
the Let Us Make Man gathering will take place on February 16 and 17, 2007, at
Atlanta Technical College; and
WHEREAS,
the symposium has a special purpose of providing the leadership and training
necessary for individuals to support new and ongoing programs in their local
communities through community centers, nonprofit organizations, churches,
mosques, and other such organizations; and
WHEREAS,
the event will provide educational activities, including modules on "Law and
Black Society," "Educating Black Males," "Mentoring of Black Males," and
"Spiritual Growth"; and
WHEREAS,
symposium organizers, who include a number of the brightest minds and
professionals in the local Black community, expect to hold more Let Us Make Man
events throughout the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia encourages the freedom of discourse and is honored by such
citizens who take initiatives towards developing new community solutions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend the organizers of the Let Us Make Man event and extend to them the
best of wishes in their current and future endeavors.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Derrick Boazman.
