A RESOLUTION


Commending James Bussey and Alice White-Bussey; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, James Bussey and Alice White-Bussey have long been recognized by the citizens of the greater Atlanta community for the vital role they have played in leadership and their deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, James and Alice have diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of their time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of their community and state as evidenced dramatically by their living their motto of "True success is not material wealth, it's through helping others," and through their commitment to helping others; and

WHEREAS, their significant organizational and leadership talents have greatly enhanced their community through the advocation and creation of economic opportunities, assisting other florists to start businesses, conducting classes for Spelman College in floriculture and entrepreneurship, serving as annual sponsor of the United Male Chorus of Ellenwood, and supporting Poplar Springs Baptist Church as well as other nonprofits and churches in the area; and

WHEREAS, the United Male Chorus of Ellenwood is expressing its appreciation to these awesome individuals with an evening of city-wide appreciation at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Ellenwood, Georgia, on August 5, 2006; and

WHEREAS, this event is a celebration to honor the spirit of Christian love modeled by James and Alice in every aspect of their lives and an opportunity to share in an evening of song, encouragement, and appreciation of this outstanding couple; and

WHEREAS, James and Alice are outstanding community leaders and have contributed and continue to contribute through their actions of love and strong commitment to the teachings of Christ, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of these remarkable and distinguished Georgians be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join to commend James Bussey and Alice White-Bussey for their effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service; congratulate them upon the grand occasion of this celebration of their contributions and accomplishments; and extend to them the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to James Bussey and Alice White-Bussey.
