A RESOLUTION


Commending Reverend Raleigh Rucker; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Reverend Raleigh Rucker answered his first call to the service of the Lord after a full and active life of community service; and

WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, or ministering through love and understanding, Reverend Rucker shows the energy, devotion, and commitment truly reflective of divine guidance; and

WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Rucker is a source of strength, inspiration, and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic strata; and

WHEREAS, his lifetime of serving God's plan has continued through his 29 years of enlightened stewardship as founder and pastor of Mount Patmos Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, under his guiding heart and gentle hands, Mount Patmos Baptist Church has blossomed as its congregation increased from 16 to over 4,500 members and thrived as an institution that ministers to the community, and as one of the most progressive congregations in DeKalb County; and

WHEREAS, his leadership was responsible for the current church property becoming mortgage and debt free in 1997; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the dynamic ministry of this devout and pious servant of the Lord.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join to commend Reverend Raleigh Rucker for his unparalleled record of community service and his innumerable good works rendered on behalf of persons in need and congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his 29th year as pastor of Mount Patmos Baptist Church in humble service to the Lord, and extend to him the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Raleigh Rucker.
