Senate Resolution 1323

A RESOLUTION


Commending Dr. Leland McCluskey; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Leland McCluskey has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and for his deep personal commitment to the health and welfare of the citizens of Georgia and the world; and

WHEREAS, Dr. McCluskey has served as a highly regarded physician in Columbus since 1992 practicing general orthopaedics; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, he and his brother George formed the St. Francis Orthopaedic Institute and he serves as the director of the Foot and Ankle Center; and

WHEREAS, he has an unwavering commitment to helping the poor and has made numerous trips to Kenya and Nigeria to provide orthopaedic care to the people of those areas and to teach orthopaedics; and

WHEREAS, through his efforts, many people are once again able to walk and to lead productive lives in these poorer regions of the world; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state and the poor people around the world have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Dr. Leland McCluskey for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to this state and his work around the world and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Leland McCluskey.
