Senate Resolution 1322

A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Larry N. Wofford on the occasion of his retirement as President of the Communications Workers of America; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Larry N. Wofford has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played as President of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 3212; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of the workplace for employees as evidenced dramatically by his 36 years of outstanding service in such leadership role; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of all workers have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, this graduate of Jordan High School in Columbus, Georgia retired from AT&T after more than 40 years of service; and

WHEREAS, he served on four bargaining committees, an unprecedented feat, and is known throughout Georgia as a pioneer, leader, and advocate for middle class blue collar workers; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Mr. Larry N. Wofford for his significant contributions to his fellow workers, CWA, and the State of Georgia and express their sincerest wishes for continued health and happiness as he retires from his leadership role as president of CWA Local 3212.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Larry N. Wofford.
