RESOLUTION
Celebrating
the 100th anniversary of the founding of the City of Chamblee, Georgia; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the great City of Chamblee was incorporated August, 1908, in the County of
DeKalb; and
WHEREAS,
2008 marks the 100th year of its existence, and, as such, the City of Chamblee
honors this illustrious milestone with a centennial celebration;
and
WHEREAS,
the people of Chamblee posses an independent and indomitable spirit; embody the
characteristics of loyalty, pride of workmanship, and patriotism; love their
families and community; take pride in their accomplishments, history, and
heritage; and live with their faces resolutely toward the future;
and
WHEREAS,
Chamblee is proud of its warm hospitality and has welcomed residents from all
parts of the world; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Chamblee has become a vital and important part of Georgia, is a
wonderful and welcoming home to many of this state´s great citizens, and
provides an outstanding quality of life for its residents; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Chamblee continues to look with optimism toward the future while
keeping the proud memory of its beginning close to its heart to share with
succeeding generations; and
WHEREAS,
it is absolutely fitting and proper that this body join in the recognition of
this significant historical milestone.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
celebrating the centennial anniversary of the City of Chamblee, Georgia,
honoring the rich heritage of its 100 years, and extending to each and every
resident of the city best wishes on this auspicious occasion for many more years
of health and prosperity.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mayor Eric Clarkson.
