RESOLUTION
Commending
Major General Rick Lynch and the Adopt-a-Soldier program; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
our nation´s security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put
their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm´s way to
protect the freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and
WHEREAS,
Major General Rick Lynch has long been recognized by the citizens of this
nation for the vital role that he plays in leadership and his deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the United States; and
WHEREAS,
this extraordinary man continues to diligently and conscientiously serve his
country with honor and distinction as Commanding General of the 3rd Infantry
Division of the United States Army, which is currently being deployed to Iraq
for the third time; and
WHEREAS,
he is a soldier´s soldier, and his heroism, valor, and ability have been
recognized on numerous occasions, and he is directly responsible for initiating
and implementing the Adopt-a-Soldier program; and
WHEREAS,
the vital importance of this outstanding initiative cannot be overemphasized as
it provides a mechanism through which patriotic Georgians can support individual
soldiers in Iraq during their deployment by sending letters, cards, e-mails, and
care packages to ensure that these brave men and women are not forgotten during
their time of trial in the desert; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished American be recognized appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Major General Rick Lynch for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated
public service to the citizens of his country and state, encourage all Georgians
to participate in the Adopt-a-Soldier program, and extend our most profound and
sincere appreciation to all members of the United States military who stand
ever ready to lay the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Major General Rick Lynch.
