RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and honoring the life of Mr. John Wesley Rakestraw; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens
with the untimely passing of Mr. John Wesley Rakestraw; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Rakestraw was born on August 8, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
a resident of Paulding County, Mr. Rakestraw was the owner of Raker Construction
Company of Dallas, Georgia, a director of the Georgian Bank, and the owner of
JWR Land and Cattle Company in Rockmart, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he was a member of the Bartlett Lodge #139 F & AM; Scottish Rite Valley of
Atlanta; Yaarab Shrine Temple of Atlanta; Paulding County Nobility Club; and
Polled Hereford Association; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Rakestraw was a devoted husband, father, a friend to his community, and a
member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
his unparalleled leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen
sense of vision, and acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his
community and this state earned him the respect and admiration of his family,
friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS,
while in life he commanded the esteem of his fellow Georgians; in his death we
mingle our sympathies with the grief of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together in recognizing and honoring the life of this extraordinary individual
and send their sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends,
and colleagues.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is hereby authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. John Wesley Rakestraw.
