RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and honoring the life of Mr. Harold T. (Hal) Echols; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the untimely passing of Mr. Hal Echols; and
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the untimely passing of Mr. Hal Echols; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Hal Echols was born on March 6, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Echols was a lifelong resident of Paulding County where he was a local
elected official and businessman; and
WHEREAS,
after retiring from a 30 year career with AT&T and 25 years with the United
States Air Force Reserves, he was elected in 1998 as a County Commissioner in
Paulding County and served as Chairman pro tempore of the Board of Commissioners
at the time of his death; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Echols was a founding board member of the First National Bank West Metro,
served on the Board of Directors of First Choice Community Bank in Dallas, and
also served on the Board of Workers' Compensation of the Association County
Commissioners of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Echols was a devoted father, a friend to his community, and a lifelong
member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
his unparalleled leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen
sense of vision, and acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his
community and this state earned him the respect and admiration of his family,
friends, and colleagues; and
WHEREAS,
while in life he commanded the esteem of his fellow Georgians; in his death we
mingle our sympathies with the grief of his family and
friends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join together in recognizing and honoring the life of this extraordinary individual and send their sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is hereby authorized and
