Senate Resolution 1301

A RESOLUTION


Honoring and commending Louise Darley on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Louise Darley is retiring on December 31, 2008, after 24 years of distinguished service to the Terrell County Superior Court, where she honorably served as the Terrell County Superior Court Clerk; and

WHEREAS, she is a native of Mitchell County and received her Associate degree in secretarial science in 1972 from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and she moved to Dawson in November, 1973; and

WHEREAS, she began her duties as Superior Court Clerk on January 1, 1984, and through the years, she has overseen numerous changes and improvements in the clerk´s office, including the transition from handwritten and typed records to the transfer of all court documents onto computers; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Darley´s tremendous commitment to her community is further demonstrated by her service as President of the Superior Court Clerk Association from 1998 to 1999 and her more than eight years of service on the Training Council of the Clerks Association, where she greatly contributed to the council´s development and implementation of a training and certification program for superior court clerks; and

WHEREAS, her outstanding abilities, expertise, and diligence enabled her to excel as the clerk of court for Terrell County and she was selected as the Clerk of the Year for the Second District of Georgia in 1994; and

WHEREAS, she is a faithful member of the Dawson First Baptist Church, where she has served as church clerk, as a member of the choir and the Church Personnel Committee, and in many other capacities; and
WHEREAS, she is a devoted wife to her husband, Ashley Darley, and in retirement, she hopes to spend more time with her family and more time riding her motorcycle; and

WHEREAS, she has been an outstanding public servant, contributing greatly to her community and the State of Georgia, and it is only fitting and proper that this distinguished Georgia citizen be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Louise Darley, an exemplary public servant, for her many years of valuable service to the Terrell Superior Court and extend their sincere wishes for a prosperous and happy retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Louise Darley.
