Senate Resolution 1298

A RESOLUTION


Commending Milton Howard; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Milton Howard is a 21-year veteran employee of the city of Avondale Estates who works in the public works department and is the longest-term associate with the city; and

WHEREAS, Milton Howard was born on January 6, 1955, in Washington, Georgia, to Herman and Suzy Howard, and in 1962, the Howard family moved to Decatur, Georgia, where Milton attended Beacon Elementary School and Decatur High School. Due to financial hardships in his family, however, Milton was forced to leave school earlier than expected to seek employment; and

WHEREAS, in 1972, Milton enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, and after a brief tour of duty, Milton got a job with R.S. Andrew Plumbing Company as a utility person in 1973. Milton worked 14 years with R.S. Andrews Plumbing Company and assisted in many major construction projects in the metropolitan Atlanta area; and

WHEREAS, Milton began his employment with the city of Avondale Estates on November 6, 1987, as a sanitation worker. Milton was instrumental in the development of several parks in the city of Avondale Estates, repairs to the city´s infrastructure, and the overall maintenance of Avondale Estates. For the past 19 years, Milton has held the position of sanitation driver; and

WHEREAS, Milton Howard exemplifies the importance of hard work, diligence, and dedication that are needed in our society.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Milton Howard for his many years of distinguished public service to his community and this state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Milton Howard.
