RESOLUTION
Commending
the National Baptist Deacons Convention of America, Inc., and Its Auxiliaries
and welcoming them to Savannah, Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the 74th Annual Session of the National Baptist Deacons Convention of America,
Inc., and Its Auxiliaries will be held in Savannah, Georgia, July 28, 2008
through August 1, 2008; and
WHEREAS,
the National Baptist Deacons Convention of America, Inc., and its Auxiliaries
began in 1934, when members of local deacons organizations from Washington,
D.C., Richmond, Virginia, and Hilltop, Maryland met to initiate a closer
relationship of Baptist deacons; and
WHEREAS,
this organization's longevity is a testament to their commitment to working
together to make a difference in their communities; and
WHEREAS,
they have set a great example for others to follow through their tireless
efforts to help those in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the National Baptist Deacons Convention of America, Inc., and Its Auxiliaries on
the valuable services they provide to their communities and the state, and
welcome them to Savannah, Georgia, for their 74th Annual Session.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the National Baptist
Deacons Convention of America, Inc., and its Auxiliaries.
