RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Americus High School Singers; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Americus High School Singers were created in the early 1970's;
and
WHEREAS,
since their beginning, their travels have elevated this talented group to an
unequaled level as youth ambassadors for their school, Sumter County, and the
State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
they have routinely performed concerts in the southeastern United States, and a
recent summer trip to Poland provided an opportunity rarely experienced by high
school students; and
WHEREAS,
this melodious group of young adults consistently wins top marks for choral
quality and choreography gaining them invitations to many festivals and
competitions; and
WHEREAS,
after an almost 35 year history, the Americus High School Singers continue to be
superlative ambassadors for Sumter County and the state; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to recognize with
particularity the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary group of
students.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body hereby
recognize the Americus High School Singers and commend them for their
outstanding contributions to their community and the state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is hereby authorized and
directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Americus High
School Singers.
