RESOLUTION
Commending
Eastridge Community Church for its 40 Days of Community Missions project; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Eastridge Community Church in Covington, Georgia, has the highest average Sunday
attendance of any church in Newton County, with more than 1,200 faithful
congregation members; and
WHEREAS,
Eastridge Community Church´s 40 Days of Community Missions project
culminated with a county-wide highway cleanup, appropriately designated "Clean
Up Newton County Day"; and
WHEREAS,
as part of this project, Eastridge Community Church was able to enlist more than
1,000 citizens to pick up litter and beautify the roads and highways throughout
the Newton County community; and
WHEREAS,
those who participated in this worthy cause, supported by Home Depot, Covington
Police Department, Newton County Sheriff´s Department and the Georgia State
Patrol, collected hundreds of bags of trash in a matter of hours;
and
WHEREAS,
as a result of the efforts of Eastridge Community Church and its congregation,
the streets are cleaner and Newton County is a better community in which to
live, work, and play.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body commends the members of
Eastridge Community Church for their achievements and service to the citizens of
Newton County and all of Georgia, and thanks them for continuing to be good
citizens of the community by organizing and participating in events such as the
40 Days of Community Missions project.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Eastridge Community
Church.
