A RESOLUTION


Commending Deborah Sims on her selection by the Georgia Art Education Association for LaFayette Middle School 8th grade; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Deborah Sims is an outstanding eighth grade student attending LaFayette Middle School in LaFayette, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, her artwork was selected by the Georgia Art Education Association to represent her school and be placed on exhibit in the Capitol Art Exhibit in the Twin Towers Building in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 14, 2007; and

WHEREAS, the Capitol Art Exhibit is one of the most important and distinguished art exhibits for the display of young artists´ work in this state; and

WHEREAS, quality education for the young people of this state includes an opportunity to explore and communicate important ideas and passions through the medium of art and the display of meaningful artistic creations; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Sims has proven herself to be a talented and accomplished artist; and through her dedication, hard work, and extraordinary accomplishments, she stands as a shining example for other young people to follow; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable and gifted artist has earned distinction through her achievements as a student at LaFayette Middle School; and

WHEREAS, in a world which seems to accentuate consistently the negative aspects of young people, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the dedication to excellence of such an outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Deborah Sims for her efforts and accomplishments and express to her their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Deborah Sims.
