A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Future Farmers of America; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and agricultural education provide a strong foundation for the youth of America and the future of the food, fiber, and natural resource systems; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia FFA association ranks as the third largest state FFA association in the nation with 25,401 current members; and

WHEREAS, the FFA promotes premier leadership, personal growth, and career success among its members; and

WHEREAS, agricultural education and the FFA ensure a steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing demands in the science, business, and technology of agriculture; and

WHEREAS, the FFA motto, "Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to live, Living to serve," gives direction of purpose to these students who take an active role in succeeding in agricultural education; and

WHEREAS, the FFA promotes citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism, and cooperation.

WHEREAS, the theme for the 2007 FFA Week is "Blue Jackets and Gold Standards."

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Future Farmers of America for their contribution to the welfare of this state and nation and recognize the week of February 17 through 24, 2007, as FFA Week.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the national FFA organization.
