RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Carlos Williams on being the recipient of the Silver Medal
Lifetime Achievement Award; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Carlos Williams was recently honored by the Advertising Federation of
Columbus, Georgia, with its highest honor, the Silver Medal Lifetime Achievement
Award; and
WHEREAS,
he was cited for his outstanding contributions to advertising, furthering the
industry standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in areas of social
concern; and
WHEREAS,
he has worked for WRBL-TV in Columbus for over 30 years in a variety of
positions including news reporter and assignments editor and is currently the
station's creative services manager; and
WHEREAS,
he never intended broadcasting to be full time and never meant for it to become
a career, coming to Columbus as a young college graduate for two reasons, to
visit his uncle and find a part-time summer job to support him while he actively
pursued his intended career, teaching; and
WHEREAS,
the career in teaching soon took a backseat to broadcasting and what began as a
part-time position blossomed into a thriving and lucrative career; and
WHEREAS,
his community service as board member of the Columbus Cancer Coalition, the
United Way Marketing Committee, and the Teen Parenting Board contributed to his
being chosen for the award; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Williams is a 1972 graduate of Moultrie Senior High School and an alumnus of
Fort Valley State College; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Williams and his wife, Cassandra, have three sons, Tyrone, Jeremy, and Timothy.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together to recognize Mr. Carlos Williams and commend him for being the
recipient of the Silver Medal Lifetime Achievement Award and for the
contributions he has made to his community and this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Carlos Williams.
