A RESOLUTION


Commending Robin Huffman Pennock; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Robin Huffman Pennock is widely recognized throughout the state as the personification of excellence in education; and

WHEREAS, this highly respected professional educator and administrator has served with honor and distinction as teacher, librarian, media specialist, principal intern, admissions representative, assistant principal, principal, executive assistant to the superintendent, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, chief academic officer, and since September, 2004, as deputy superintendent of Muscogee County Schools in Columbus, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she believes that her continuing role as deputy school superintendent is to act as an instrument of inspiration and enthusiasm to her pupils and to create a positive learning environment through the encouragement of competitive instincts in students; and

WHEREAS, she has written over 30 articles in the fields of education and history in newspapers, historical magazines, and general interest publications, including articles on the elementary school principalship, transiency, cultural diversity, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, George Armstrong Custer, and William Tecumseh Sherman; and

WHEREAS, she received her education from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, and Portland State University in Portland, Oregon; and

WHEREAS, she is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual education professionals and school superintendents are making on the quality of education received by the children of this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Robin Huffman Pennock for her sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Robin Huffman Pennock.
