A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Meleah Miller, Miss Deaf Georgia 2007-09; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Miss Meleah Miller is the beautiful daughter of proud and loving parents Deborah and Phillip Miller of Canton, Georgia and a native of Woodstock, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, on July 20, 2007, this extraordinary woman was crowned Miss Deaf Georgia 2007-09 and will ably represent Georgia in the Miss Deaf America Pageant July 7 through 11, 2008, in New Orleans, Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, this amazingly principled young lady who has been deaf since birth was an outstanding graduate from the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and now attends Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, she is a motivated and positive young woman whose message to others is "Make a Difference"; and

WHEREAS, during her reign, she will travel across the State of Georgia, serving as a goodwill ambassador, promoting her platform, and encouraging others to make a difference by pulling people up and influencing them in a positive way; and

WHEREAS, she personifies the selfless dedication, mental agility, and personal maturity necessary to become an outstanding leader and citizen and she will make her parents, community, and this state proud wherever she chooses to serve; and

WHEREAS, in a world which seems to accentuate consistently the negative aspects of young people, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary accomplishments, achievements, and unsurpassed commitment to excellence of such an outstanding individual.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join together to commend Meleah Miller for her amazing achievements and positive influences upon the citizens of this state and extend to her our sincerest best wishes for continues success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Meleah Miller.
