RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Tallulah Falls School on the occasion of their centennial
celebration; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
2009 marks the centennial of the founding of Tallulah Falls School in Tallulah
Falls, Georgia by Ms. Mary Ann Lipscomb and the Georgia Federation of
Woman´s Clubs; and
WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School was founded as a school to provide a quality
education
for the mountain children of North Georgia; and
for the mountain children of North Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School has become a nationally recognized, fully accredited
college preparatory school attracting students from across Georgia, other
states, and nine foreign countries; and
WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School has been a source of pride to Georgia by providing an
outstanding educational environment for students in grades six through twelve
for the past 100 years; and
WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School has had the vision and the courage to pioneer in
educational methods and curriculum but has not lost sight of its primary mission
to educate the individual; and
WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School has provided millions of dollars in financial
assistance
to students across the state from all walks of life; and

WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School attracts students that have strong character, a desire for
learning in a college preparatory environment, and an interest in developing
their leadership skills; and
WHEREAS, Tallulah Falls School is located on 500 acres adjacent to the famous Tallulah Gorge and historic Tallulah Falls and is perched at the edge of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains; and

WHEREAS,
the institution has enriched our state with thousands of well-prepared students
that have achieved success in colleges and universities throughout the state and
the nation; and
WHEREAS,
this institution, which was founded in modest quarters in Tallulah Falls,
Georgia, in 1909, has flourished and now grown to national prominence;
and
WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School offers a demanding and rewarding education with a highly
qualified faculty and an impressive student to faculty ratio of 12:1;
and
WHEREAS,
Tallulah Falls School is a national leader in providing a tuition cost
significantly
lower than most quality college preparatory schools in the nation.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Tallulah Falls School, honor
the rich heritage of its 100 years, commend the faculty, staff, and
administrators for their commitment to educational excellence, and extend to
Tallulah Falls School their sincerest best wishes for continued growth and
success.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Larry A. Peevy, President
and Head of Tallulah Falls School and to Mrs. Gewene Womack, Chairman of the
Tallulah Falls School Board of Trustees.
