A RESOLUTION


Commending Roswell O. Sutton; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Roswell O. Sutton has long been recognized by the citizens of Atlanta for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his 85 years of service with careers at Citizens Trust Bank, Paschal Enterprises, Paschal's Concession, Inc., and Dobbs-Paschal Midfield Corporation; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his community have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman served his country in the United States Army, and after an honorable discharge, re-enlistment, and retirement, he transferred to the Retired Army Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sutton serves on the board of directors of numerous organizations, holds memberships with many civic, charitable, and philanthropic groups, and has been a member of Friendship Baptist Church for 67 years; and

WHEREAS, he is a loving husband to his wife, Luel, and proud and doting father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Roswell O. Sutton for his over eight decades of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service and extend him the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Roswell O. Sutton.
