RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of Police Officer Eric Barker; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost one of its finest and most distinguished young
individuals with the untimely passing of Police Officer Eric Barker;
and
WHEREAS,
while the loss of any loved one is a terrible event, the loss of this young man
is especially tragic, as he died in the line of duty on January 16, 2008; and
WHEREAS,
Officer Barker served with the DeKalb County Police Department for four years;
and
WHEREAS,
Officer Barker leaves behind a wife and four children; and
WHEREAS,
his unfortunate departure has left scars upon the hearts of grieving friends,
family, and fellow police officers throughout Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together in honoring the memory of Police Office Eric Barker and extending the
deepest and most sincere condolences to his family and friends.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Police
Officer Eric Barker.
