A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Article 7 of Chapter 5 of Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to stalking, so as to increase the penalty for aggravated stalking; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Article 7 of Chapter 5 of Title 16 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to stalking, is amended by revising subsection (b) of Code Section 16-5-91, relating to aggravated stalking, as follows:
"(b) Any person convicted of a violation of subsection (a) of this Code section shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one three nor more than ten years and by a fine of not more than $10,000.00. The provisions of subsection (d) of Code Section 16-5-90 apply to sentencing for conviction of aggravated stalking."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
