A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to local government, so as to provide for additional governmental services and facilities regarding community improvement districts; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to local government, is amended by adding a new chapter to read as follows:

"CHAPTER 94
36-94-1.
Pursuant to Article IX, Section VII, Paragraph II of the Constitution, the purpose of a community improvement district shall be the provision of any one or more of the following governmental services and facilities:
(1) Street and road construction and maintenance, including curbs, sidewalks, street lights, and devices to control the flow of traffic on streets and roads;
(2) Parks and recreational areas and facilities;
(3) Storm water and sewage collection and disposal systems;
(4) Development, storage, treatment, purification, and distribution of water;
(5) Public transportation;
(6) Terminal and dock facilities and parking facilities; or
(7) Economic development, including, but not limited to, performing arts facilities."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
