A RESOLUTION


Honoring and commending Mr. Robert Morrison Forsyth, outstanding Georgia citizen; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Morrison Forsyth was born November 14, 1919, in Paulding County, to his loving parents, Roy Forsyth and Eva Holder Forsyth; and

WHEREAS, he served his country with great pride and honor in the United States Marines from 1944 through 1946 before receiving an honorable discharge; and

WHEREAS, he was a successful chicken farmer from 1953 through 1996, and his business greatly contributed to the community and Georgia's economy; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Morrison Forsyth was a member of the Board of Polk County Commissioners for 15 years, and his wise and effective leadership earned him the highest respect of his colleagues and the community which he diligently served; and

WHEREAS, he contributed further to Polk County by serving as a Polk County school bus driver from 1965 through 1988; and

WHEREAS, he has been a devoted and caring husband and a loving father to his daughter, Martha, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to his three grandchildren, Robert Alan McDurmon, Lisa Johnson, and Lori Payne, and six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Reilly, Avery, Carter, Megan, and Abigail; and

WHEREAS, under his excellent leadership and many contributions, Polk County has provided its esteemed citizens with an exceptional quality of life and a welcoming home, and it is abundantly fitting that he be appropriately recognized for his outstanding public service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending former Commissioner Robert Morrison Forsyth for his many contributions to his community and the state of Georgia and extend to him their sincere best wishes for his future health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Robert Morrison Forsyth.
