RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the University of Georgia Men's Golf Team on winning the 2006 Southeastern
Conference Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Bulldogs won the 2006 Southeastern Conference Championship at St. Simons
Island, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the Bulldogs hold 26 SEC titles, which is more than any other SEC team in men's
golf and the most of any athletic team at Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding team includes Chris Kirk, a First-Team All-American and the SEC
Player of the Year; Brendon Todd, an Honorable Mention All-American and a
First-Team All-SEC; Brian Harman, a Second-Team All-American, a First-Team
All-SEC, and the SEC Freshman of the Year; Kevin Kisner, an Honorable Mention
All-American and a Second-Team All-SEC; Richard Scott, an Honorable Mention
All-American; and teammates Michael Green, Butler Melnyk, and Adam Mitchell;
and
WHEREAS,
the Bulldogs have won five SEC titles under SEC Coach of the Year Chris Haack,
and his players have set the school's marks for lowest team total in a
tournament as well as lowest mark by an individual; and
WHEREAS,
the Bulldogs won six tournaments in the 2005-2006 season, tying the school
record for single-season victories; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of this team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability and the dedication and hard work of each member of the
team.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the University of Georgia Men's Golf Team for its unparalleled
achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for its continued
success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Chris Haack.
