RESOLUTION
Honoring
and remembering the life of Robert "Bob" Edward Youmans, Jr.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Robert "Bob" Edward Youmans, Jr., was born in Forest Park, Georgia, on February
26, 1953, to Robert Edward, Sr., and Frances Youmans; and
WHEREAS,
he graduated from Forest Park High School before he attended Clayton State
College and earned a business degree from Georgia State University;
and
WHEREAS,
Bob was a talented keyboard player and a self-taught musician with a passion for
writing and playing music, and he formed his own successful band called
"Secretz" that toured extensively across the United States for many years;
and
WHEREAS,
he was a devoted husband to his wife, Forest Park City Councilwoman Debbie
Youmans, working side by side with her and other elected officials on a number
of community projects and serving as Debbie's campaign manager in two successful
elections; and
WHEREAS,
Bob was a local business owner, a political activist, and longtime member of the
Clayton County NAACP; and
WHEREAS,
Bob was one of the founders of the "Clayton Village" Anti-Gang Task Force, an
organization formed in 2004 to address the rise in gang activity and the
increased number of child murders in Clayton County; and
WHEREAS,
he was a noted advocate of the Constitution and a staunch defender of voting
rights who diligently monitored voting registration and elections in the area;
and
WHEREAS,
last year, Bob was elected third Vice President of the Clayton County Democratic
Party, and was proud to serve; and
WHEREAS,
Bob was a devoted family man who loved his wife with the passion of a newlywed,
and he was a devoted father to Brandon and Brad; a proud grandfather to Elijah;
a loving brother to Barbara; and a doting uncle to his niece, Jessica;
and
WHEREAS,
in harmony with the words of Matthew 23:11, "He that is greatest among you shall
be your servant," Bob led an exemplary life as a faithful community servant of
Forest Park, Georgia, and his legacy will undoubtedly touch countless lives in
Georgia and elsewhere for years to come.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Robert
"Bob" Edward Youmans, Jr., and extend their most sincere condolences to his
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Robert "Bob" Edward Youmans, Jr.
