RESOLUTION
Recognizing
John Hancock Academy; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on August 29, 2006, John Hancock Academy in Sparta, Georgia, celebrated its 40th
anniversary; and
WHEREAS,
a group of parents seeking to provide their children with the best possible
education organized to open the academy; and
WHEREAS,
John Hancock Academy was made possible by the donation of funds, but most
importantly the services volunteered by the workers who repaired and renovated
the structure that ultimately became the schoolhouse; and
WHEREAS,
the unskilled volunteers worked under the direction of skilled carpenters,
painters, plumbers, and electricians, who were also donating their time, to
ensure that the doors of the school were ready to be open in time for the 1966
school year; and
WHEREAS,
for more than 40 years John Hancock Academy has been providing the highest level
of education to the City of Sparta and its surrounding communities.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize John Hancock Academy for its more than 40 years of
education.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to John Hancock
Academy.
