RESOLUTION
Commending
Ms. Leigha Burham; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Leigha Burham is widely recognized as the personification of excellence in
education for her teaching abilities; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Burham holds degrees from both Berry College and Jacksonville State
University; and
WHEREAS,
this highly respected teacher in the Floyd County school system has served with
honor and distinction as a professional educator for seven years and currently
teaches language arts as well as heading the Tomahawk drama club and program at
Armuchee High School in Rome, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she has fulfilled her role as a teacher, serving as an instrument of inspiration
and enthusiasm to her pupils and creating a positive and encouraging learning
environment; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her outstanding dedication to academic excellence, she was
selected as the 2007 Floyd County Schools Teacher of the Year, as well as
selected by Armuchee High School's 2007 STAR Student, Casey Underhill, as the
2007 STAR Teacher for Armuchee High School; and
WHEREAS,
she is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual
classroom teachers make on the quality of education received by the children of
this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her superlative
accomplishments be recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Ms. Leigha Burnham for her sacrifice,
foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia
and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of so many
young people in this state and congratulate her upon her selection as the 2007
Floyd County Schools Teacher of the Year and as the Armuchee High School 2007
STAR Teacher.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Leigha
Burnham.
