RESOLUTION
Recognizing
Big Bend Regional Spelling Bee Champion, Austin Cole Brinkley; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on Saturday, February 24, 2007, 7th grade student Austin Cole Brinkley, son of
Rod and Kelly Brinkley of Cairo, Georgia, won the Big Bend Regional Spelling Bee
in Tallahassee, Florida; and
WHEREAS,
this achievement is the culmination of hard work and determination on the part
of this outstanding student who deserves much credit for his energy and
dedication to academic excellence; and
WHEREAS,
Austin will be competing against 275 others at the Scripps National Spelling Bee
Championships in Washington, D.C., on May 27 through June 2; and
WHEREAS,
he is in the gifted program at Shiver Elementary School and has the highest
grade point average in his class, he plays saxophone in the band, he loves to
write, and he is active in the youth group at Gordon Heights Baptist Church;
and
WHEREAS,
the Cairo community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the
accomplishments of this fine young scholar.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing Austin Cole Brinkley, winner of the Big Bend
Regional Spelling Bee, and extend to him their sincere best wishes as he travels
to the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championships in Washington,
D.C.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Austin Cole
Brinkley.
