RESOLUTION
Commending
the House Interns for the 2007 Regular Session; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Legislative Internship Program celebrates its 38th anniversary as
one of the nation's oldest educational internships to focus on the state
legislative process; and
WHEREAS,
the internship program is a cooperative venture between the Georgia General
Assembly and institutions of higher learning in Georgia; and it provides a
select group of students in-depth exposure to the House and the Senate by
assigning them to assist key standing committees and legislative leaders;
and
WHEREAS,
2007 marks the 2nd year of the Georgia House of Representatives Speaker's
Internship Program, giving students chosen for the program an opportunity to be
involved first-hand in the important work of this body; and
WHEREAS,
the 20 students selected for the House Legislative Internship Program and the
six students selected for the Speaker's Internship Program represent some of the
best and the brightest college students in our state who share a genuine
interest in the lawmaking process and a potential commitment to public service;
and
WHEREAS,
the unique experience of participating as a House Intern has undoubtedly
enriched the academic study these college students have completed;
and
WHEREAS,
the members of the standing committees and legislative leaders benefited greatly
from the service of these interns and salute each of these students on a job
well done: Melondy Alexander, Daniel Beer, Robert Buckley, Jason Chapman, John
Dayton, Matthew Elder, Jason Glover, Alex Harris, Sara Johnson, Jeremy Kobus,
Cathy Miller, Walter Moore, Michael Ng, Chris Porter, Daniel Simpson, Matthew
Tribble, Fabienne Valmond, Raechelle Wheeler, Luisa Sison, and Jessica Zarter;
and
WHEREAS,
the Speaker has benefited immensely from the service of these interns and
salutes each of these students on a job well done: Kristi Kemp, Chris Mack,
Justin Mullis, Tonie Nelson, Micahel Stippich, and Ben Flowers, House
Chaplain.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body
commends the House Interns for the 2007 Regular Session on their superb
performance and conveys its best wishes to them for success in their future
pursuits.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each of the
interns named herein.
