RESOLUTION
Commending
the late Brigadier General John E. McGowan; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
our nation´s security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put
their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm´s way to
protect the freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and
WHEREAS,
the late Brigadier General John E. McGowan has long been recognized by the
citizens of this nation for the vital role that he played in leadership and his
deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the United States;
and
WHEREAS,
this extraordinary man diligently and conscientiously served his country with
honor and distinction as a member of the United States Army since 1943 where he
served in the Rheinland and Central European Campaigns; and
WHEREAS,
he was a soldier´s soldier and his heroism, valor, and ability have been
recognized by his being awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge,
World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal
(Germany), Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Georgia National
Guard Service Medal, and the State of Georgia Active Duty Ribbon;
and
WHEREAS,
his selfless and heroic actions stand as a shining tribute to the strength of
human spirit and willpower, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the
outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished American be
recognized appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Brigadier General John E. McGowan for his efficient,
effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of his
country and state and extend to his family their most profound and sincere
appreciation for him and for all members of the United States military who stand
ever ready to lay the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Brigadier General John E. McGowan.
