RESOLUTION
Commending
Susan Gordon; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Susan Gordon has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that she has played in community leadership and her deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her state as evidenced dramatically
by her over 30 years of superlative service as receptionist for the Office of
Legislative Counsel; and
WHEREAS,
she has served the state legislature with the utmost ability as a key member of
the staff while performing her duties with steadfast dedication, unparalleled
professionalism, infinite patience, premier proficiency, ardent ability, and
complete competency; and
WHEREAS,
her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience
and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the
members of the General Assembly have earned her the respect and admiration of
her colleagues and associates, the members of this body, and former Legislative
Counsel, the late Frank Edwards, and current Legislative Counsel, Sewell R.
Brumby; and
WHEREAS,
she is a woman of deep and abiding faith and devotion who attends daily Mass and
is an active member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers, Georgia, and a
frequent visitor at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
she is an excellent cook whose culinary talents are frequently displayed in the
office kitchen and who consistently shares favorite recipes with other members
of the staff; and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; her loyalty, competency,
reliability, and enthusiasm have distinguished her excellent service to this
state as she has acted as the point of first contact for members of the
legislature seeking legal or drafting help from the Office of Legislative
Counsel or for members of the public seeking information about state government;
and
WHEREAS,
her friendship is counted by legislative staff as well as the members of the
General Assembly as a special experience they will always remember;
and
WHEREAS,
her "countdown calendars" have been viewed and appreciated by many, but this
year´s will be her last as she has announced her retirement in July, 2007;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Susan Gordon for her almost three and one-half decades of
efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of
her state; convey to her their heartiest congratulations upon the grand occasion
of her retirement; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for
continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Susan Gordon.
