RESOLUTION
Commending
Reverend Marvin A. Moss; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend Marvin A. Moss was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and graduated
from Goldsboro High School; and
WHEREAS,
he received a bachelor´s degree from Hampton University and a master´s
of divinity degree from Gammon Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational
Theological Center; and
WHEREAS,
he served as associate pastor of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in
Decatur and pastor of Saint James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta where
the congregation increased from 100 to 1,500 members; and
WHEREAS,
he was assigned to the Cascade United Methodist Church in June 2006;
and
WHEREAS,
he has been an outstanding civic leader and served as a board member of Habitat
for Humanity and the Ed Isakson YMCA; and
WHEREAS,
he has been a leader in the North Georgia District of the United Methodist
Church; and
WHEREAS,
he has been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he
has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the education and
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state;
and
WHEREAS,
his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of his community have earned him the respect and admiration of his
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate Reverend Marvin A. Moss for his many accomplishments to
the civic, religious, and social life of the Atlanta metropolitan community and
extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and
happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend
Marvin A. Moss.
