A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and remembering the life of Charles Willard Kilpatrick; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia lost one of its most distinguished citizens with the
passing of Charles Willard Kilpatrick on March 25, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
this son of the late Florence Greenway and Charles Franklin Kilpatrick was a
native and lifelong resident of Oconee County; and
WHEREAS,
he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Talmadge and Mack, and his sister
Mindora Bray; and
WHEREAS,
he was a veteran of the United States Army, having bravely served this country
in the South Pacific and in Japan; and
WHEREAS,
this amazing man was a life member of the American Legion Post 185 and VFW Post
9147; and
WHEREAS,
he unhesitatingly aided his community in every way he could, serving on the
council of the town of Bishop for more than 30 years; and
WHEREAS,
this retiree of Ameripride was also a faithful member of the Bishop Baptist
Church; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Kilpatrick leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years, Myrtice
Landrum Kilpatrick; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and R. L. Crawford; two sons
and daughters-in-law, Charles David and Judy Kilpatrick, and Doug and Melissa
Kilpatrick; sister, Ruzelle Crawford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and
Amelia Kilpatrick, Bob Kilpatrick, Jamie and Betty Kilpatrick; sister-in-law,
Ann Kilpatrick; grandchildren, Kim Medley, Kristen and Jon Taylor, Missy and
Chris Houston, Sharon and Tim Kirkham, Kelly Watson, Ashley and Ryan Griffin,
and Jessie Giardini; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives, friends,
and former colleagues; and
WHEREAS,
in life he commanded the esteem of his fellow Georgians; at his death we mingle
our sympathies with the grief of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of
Charles Willard Kilpatrick, and extend their most sincere condolences to his
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Charles
Willard Kilpatrick.
