RESOLUTION
Commending
the Fayette County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People on the occasion of its tenth anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Fayette County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People (NAACP) will celebrate its tenth anniversary and hold its tenth
annual Freedom Fund Banquet on November 3, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
the Freedom Fund Banquet honors those who have given outstanding service to the
organization and the community; and
WHEREAS,
since it was chartered on January 17, 1997, the Fayette County Branch of the
NAACP has been intricately involved in the social, political, economic, and
religious development of Fayette County; and
WHEREAS,
under a succession of able and committed leaders, including its former
presidents Reverend Dale Foster, Reverend Edward Johnson, Jr., and Wanda Robins,
and its current president, Phyllis Blake, the Fayette County Branch of the NAACP
has been a responsible and effective vehicle for positive change in the
community; and
WHEREAS,
consistently committed to the pursuit of justice and equality, the leadership
and members of the Fayette County Branch work with unparalleled dedication to
make Fayette County a better place to live; and
WHEREAS,
this body wishes to express its appreciation to the Fayette County Branch of the
NAACP for providing leadership and service to the Fayette
community.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Fayette County Branch of the NAACP for its ten years of
outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of this state and join in
celebrating the annual Freedom Fund Banquet.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Fayette
County Branch of the NAACP.
