A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the Parole Reporting Center; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Parole Reporting Center, formerly known as the Atlanta Day Reporting Center,
provides parolees the opportunity to change addictive and criminal behavior
through the use of evidence-based substance abuse treatment and cognitive
programming; and
WHEREAS,
on July 1, 2006, the Parole Board assumed full responsibility for the Center,
which has as it goals to increase the likelihood of successful parole
completions and to reduce the risk of drug usage; and
WHEREAS,
parole officers in the South Metro and North Fulton offices may refer parolees
to the Parole Reporting Center; and
WHEREAS,
the emphasis at the Parole Reporting Center is on treatment and programming
along with full-time employment, which is viewed as a key to successful program
completion; and
WHEREAS,
the Parole Reporting Center is designed to accommodate the work schedule of
parolees with those employed during the day attending the evening treatment
component and those employed in the evening attending the day program; and
WHEREAS,
the Parole Reporting Center, located in District 44, held its first graduation
on February 8, 2007, honoring nine individuals who successfully completed the
program; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting and proper that the Parole Reporting Center be recognized for
its outstanding services and the opportunities it affords the parolees of this
state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Parole Reporting Center and recognize the wonderful
opportunities it offers to parolees to change addictive and criminal
behavior.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Parole
Reporting Center.
