RESOLUTION
Recognizing
State Spelling Bee Champion Shoman Kasbekar; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on Friday, March 24, 2007, home-schooled student Shoman Kasbekar, son of Shakhar
and Sushama Kasbekar of Macon, Georgia, won the Atlanta Daily World/Georgia
Association of Educators State Spelling Bee; and
WHEREAS,
after a grueling competition lasting two and a half hours, Shoman spelled his
competitor´s word,
ignominious,
and then correctly spelled his own word,
ineradicable,
to claim the prestigious title; and
WHEREAS,
this achievement is the culmination of hard work and determination on the part
of this outstanding student who deserves much credit for his energy and
dedication to academic excellence; and
WHEREAS,
as the State Champion, this vivacious 12 year-old will represent the State of
Georgia at the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championships in Washington, D.C.,
in May; and
WHEREAS,
the Macon community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the
accomplishments of this fine young scholar.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing Shoman Kasbekar, winner of the State Spelling Bee,
and extend to him their sincere best wishes as he travels to the Scripps
National Spelling Bee Championships in Washington.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Shoman
Kasbekar.
