A RESOLUTION


Expressing appreciation to Susan Gordon on the occasion of her upcoming retirement; inviting her to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Susan Gordon has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Georgia Office of Legislative Counsel, providing outstanding service to the General Assembly and its members and other workers and visitors on Capitol Hill; and

WHEREAS, she has announced her plans to retire in 2007, before the convening of the next session of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, she has always been on the front line of duty for the legislature's legal staff, greeting visitors and directing traffic at the first desk inside the door to Suite 316 of the Capitol Building; and

WHEREAS, she has established a well-known and well-founded reputation throughout the Capitol for wit and wisdom, professionalism, and mastery of the workings of the legislature; and

WHEREAS, she is a dear friend to many members and former members of this body, and it is not uncommon for former members who have gone on to serve as Governor, United States Senator, or United States Representative to return to the northeast corner of the Capitol for "a visit with Susan"; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this body should express its gratitude for her wonderful career of service to the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body hereby expresses its appreciation to Susan Gordon on the occasion of her upcoming retirement and extends its best wishes for a long, happy, and fulfilling retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Ms. Gordon is invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purpose of being recognized by the House.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Susan Gordon.
