RESOLUTION
Commending
the Tucker High School Tigers boys varsity basketball team and inviting them to
appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Tucker High School Tigers boys varsity basketball team dazzled Georgia
audiences on Friday, March 9, 2007, by winning the Class AAAA State
Championship, marking their first state title since 1996 and the first career
title for Head Coach James Hartry; and
WHEREAS,
the Tigers powered through the state playoffs and, as a fitting finale to their
remarkable 2007 campaign, ousted their DeKalb County rival and defending state
champions Columbia High School with a spectacular 56-51 win; and
WHEREAS,
the Tucker High School Tigers boys varsity basketball team consisted of the
following fine young athletes: Jeremy Simmons, Marques Ragsdale, Derrick Lott,
Amara Thompson, Marshon Brooks, Nick DeLoach, John Perez, Cheveckio Wilson,
Manny Atkins, Aric Miller, Ricky Ogletree, Justin Favors, Winford Hartry, Deji
Adako, Brandon Griffith, and Marcus Clark; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the
astute direction of Head Coach James Hartry; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of pain and hard work, it is
fitting and proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Tucker High School Tigers boys varsity basketball team for
its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for
continued success in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Tucker High School Tigers boys varsity basketball
team is hereby invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date
and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purposes of being
recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
