A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending educator Nancy Marshall on the occasion of her retirement from Putnam Elementary School; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Nancy Marshall has provided more than 30 years of dedicated service to the State of Georgia, providing her wisdom and patient guidance to the youth of this state as a teacher in Bibb County from 1975 to 1989 and in Putnam County from 1989 to 2007; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Marshall earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia, a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from Mercer University, and an Education Specialist degree from Georgia College and State University; and

WHEREAS, she has maintained a lifelong personal commitment to serving others through volunteer projects and Christian outreach, and she has served on the boards of organizations such as the Eatonton First United Methodist Church, Putnam Christian Outreach, the First United Methodist Church Preschool, Eatonton Service League, and the Delta Kappa Gamma professional organization; and

WHEREAS, she is a member of the Eatonton-Putnam County Historical Society, Inc., the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, and PAGE, where she has served as a local and district representative; and

WHEREAS, as the sponsor of the Putnam Elementary Junior Beta Club, she has encouraged her students to adhere to a high standard of academic excellence, and she has organized Junior Beta Club trips to the state capitol building for many years; and

WHEREAS, as she has commanded the esteem of several generations of students and colleagues, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor her contributions to the education and welfare of young people in this state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize educator Nancy Marshall on the occasion of her retirement from Putnam Elementary School, commend her extensive service to the community, and extend to her their sincerest best wishes for a golden tomorrow.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Nancy Marshall.
