A RESOLUTION


Congratulating the 2006-2007 Wilkinson County High School Warriors boys basketball team on winning the Class A State Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the Wilkinson County High School Warriors boys basketball team has completed another spectacular season, posting an amazing final record of 32-1; and

WHEREAS, Wilkinson defeated two nationally ranked teams at a tournament in Illinois, soared through the state playoffs, and captured the Class A State Championship with a 79-75 overtime victory over Whitefield Academy, a fitting finale to their remarkable 2006-2007 campaign; and

WHEREAS, since 1999, the Warriors have won three Class A state titles, one Class AA title, and finished in the final four twice; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Dr. Aaron Geter; and

WHEREAS, the Wilkinson County High School basketball program has become a sensation throughout the community, and it has the full support of the school's staff, boasting an attendance of approximately 3,500 for each of the final two games of 2007; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of pain and hard work, it is fitting and proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Wilkinson County High School Warriors boys basketball team for its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Dr. Aaron Geter.
