RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Reverend Eugene Green on the occasion of his retirement as pastor
of St. John Baptist Church; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
a man of unimpeachable character, an extraordinary leader, and a distinguished
servant of God, Reverend Eugene Green has touched countless lives during his 14
years of tireless service at St. John Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
during his time at St. John Baptist Church in Gainesville, Reverend Green has
been instrumental in a number of dramatic transformations, including moving the
congregation from a small, cramped building on E.E. Butler Parkway to a much
larger and more modern facility; and
WHEREAS,
the Green family has served as an unshakable pillar of the Gainesville African
American community, and the new sanctuary has been designed with West African
colors, symbols, and architecture; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Green's final sermon at St. John Baptist Church marks an occasion for
celebration, since he continues down his life path confidently as he says,
"Wherever the Lord leads me, that is where I will follow."
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the service of this dedicated spiritual leader, commend
Reverend Eugene Green for 14 years of service at St. John Baptist Church, and
extend to him their sincerest best wishes for his future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend
Eugene Green.
