A
RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the 2006-2007 Manchester High School Blue Devils boys basketball team and
inviting them to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
through perseverance and iron determination, the Manchester High School Blue
Devils boys basketball has completed another spectacular season, posting an
amazing final record of 29-3; and
WHEREAS,
the Blue Devils soared through the state playoffs and, as a fitting finale to
their remarkable 2007 campaign, captured the Class AA State Championship;
and
WHEREAS,
the 2006-2007 Blue Devils were composed of the following fine athletes: J.J.
Wortham, Tabias Jackson, Trevor Jones, Jamarquis Steverson, David Garrett,
Terime Bowles, Dontavious Carter, Zack Warren, Twandre Bell, Rapheal Long,
Shavel Kelley, Marco Turner, Marquise Williams, Dantaves Dozier, Gairachious
Strozier, Jaleel White, and Keri Walker; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of Head Coach Curtis Noble and Coach Danny Garrett;
and
WHEREAS,
the Blue Devils exemplified the virtues of sportsmanship and community spirit,
playing alongside their neighbors and fellow champions, the Jordan Red Jackets;
and
WHEREAS,
during Head Coach Noble's four years of leadership at Manchester, the team has
lost only one home game, and he holds an overall record of 102-16 at Manchester;
and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of pain and hard work, it is
fitting and proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Manchester High School Blue Devils boys basketball team
for its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for
continued success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the players and coaches of the Manchester High School
Blue Devils are hereby invited to appear before the House of Representatives at
a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purposes of
being recognized by the House of Representatives and receiving an appropriate
copy of this resolution.
